Timeline for Career Planning

 

Grade 12

 

Ø     Continue to acquire part-time volunteer or job experiences related to career plans. 

 

Ø     Make an appointment with your guidance counselor to start discussing your future plans.

 

Ø     Start reviewing your transcripts and making sure you are on the right path to graduation.

 

Ø     Continue to work on your career portfolios and begin to ask your teachers/ guidance counselor for recommendations and references.  You will need these for the jobfair as well as your college applications.

 

Ø     Put together a list of colleges that you are planning on applying to and make sure that you have visited each school, if possible.

 

Ø     Begin to think about possible college majors that will help to attain your career goals.

 

Ø     Identify your career choices.

 

Ø     Apply for employment, college, or further training.

 

Ø     Apply for financial aid and scholarships.

 

Ø     Visit the guidance office frequently for updates on available scholarships.

 

Ø     Visit or contact the high school in your hometown or city to see if there are any scholarships that you can apply for there.
