Timeline for Career Planning

Grade 11

Ø     Acquire part-time volunteer or job experiences related to career plans. 

Ø     Take the PSAT in the fall and consider taking the SAT in the spring if appropriate. 

Ø     Identify appropriate college majors as they relate to your career goals.

Ø     Start researching colleges that have the major that you are interested in pursuing.

Ø     Consider career goals while working on continuing on in your career plan.

Ø     Attend career information programs and or college night programs.

Ø     Continue to develop skills in interviewing, resume writing, and completing job applications.

Ø     Schedule an appointment with your guidance counselor to start thinking about colleges.

Ø     Start visiting college campuses during April vacation and also summer vacation.
