Sophomore Year Course Selections English: (1213)
World Literature II (Grade10) This course continues the study of World Literature from Romanticism and Realism to today’s literature while sampling authors and a variety of works from around the world. The development of listening, speaking and critical thinking skills is incorporated into the various activities in this course. Independent research and in depth analysis within a variety of assignments are expectations of this course. Prerequisite:

And (1212) World Literature (Grade 10) This
course continues the study of world literature from Romanticism and Realism to
today’s literature while sampling authors and a variety of literary works
from around the world. History: (3213)
World History II (Grade 10) The second part of this world history course focuses on world trends through Europe, Asia and the Americas up to the present. Cultural studies are supported by additional readings. In this course students will use a variety of sources including primary sources, media, resources, oral histories, and visual data as well as traditional textual sources and present their findings in oral visual and written form. Prerequisites: Teacher Recommendation (3211)
And (3212) World History II (Grade 10) The
second part of World History begins with the Age of Revolution and traces
world trends through Europe, Asia, and the Americas up to the present. Social
systems such as Communism, socialism and capitalism are analyzed, and regional
conflicts are investigated. Mathematics: (2213)
Geometry (Grade
10) This course includes all traditional Geometry topics and trigonometry from a geometry perspective. Abstract geometry concepts are related to algebra concepts and connected to real world applications. Prerequisites:
Algebra I (2111) or Algebra II (2113) and Teacher recommendations

Geometry (Grade 10) This course includes topics such as formal proofs, congruence of triangles, parallelism, ratio and proportion, area and measurements of angles. Students will learn to recognize when to apply theorems and postulates in problem solving in real life situations. Prerequisites: Algebra I (2212) Geometry (Grade 10) This course includes all traditional geometry topics yet uses a more informal approach. Emphasis is placed on traditional hands on projects and real world applications. Prerequisites:
Algebra I
Science: (4213) Biology II (Grade 10) This course focuses on ecology, evolution, biodiversity and human anatomy. Students will continue to develop inquiry and analytical skills. Notebooks are required as well as additional readings and an inquiry based project. Prerequisite: Teacher Recommendation (4211)
And (4212) Biology II (Grade10) This course is a continuation of general biology, which includes classification of organisms, cell functions, human body structures and functions. Prerequisite: Biology I |
