Senior Year Course Selections English: (1413)
Modern American Literature (Grade 12) This course is a literary survey from the American post war period to the present. Various types of literature are explored. The appreciation of literature, vocabulary development and written literary analysis are integral aspects of this course. Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation (1411)
And (1412) Modern American Literature (Grade 12) The second half of American Literature is comprised of the writings of the twentieth century. The literature chosen supports the study of American History as well as that, which represents the better authors of the period and a variety of genres. History: (3441)
United States History in the 20th and 21st Century
(Grade 12) In this course students will examine the effects of 20 and 21st Century events such as World War II, the Cold War, The Vietnam War and Desert Storm. This course will include a focus on the significance of Modern American leaders and recognize events that have helped shape America. Project based assessment will be emphasized. (3442)
Global Perspectives (Grade 12) This
course is a study of current political and governmental trends, conditions and
events, which have significant influence on international, national and local
affairs. Assessment will be based on research, analysis, oral presentations

Precalculus (Grade 12) This course offers students who have completed Algebra II with Trigonometry a concise review of algebra and trigonometry concepts as well as strong preparation for calculus. This course emphasizes the algebra of calculus using a highly visual approach using graphing calculators. Prerequisites:
Algebra II with Trigonometry and Teacher recommendation. (2411)
Algebra with Trigonometry (Grade 12) This course will relate the connections between Geometry and Algebra. Focus is placed on theory of polynomial equations, functions, limits, trig functions and identities and logarithmic functions as well as their application to real life situations. Prerequisite:

Business Mathematics II (Grade
12) This
course focuses on the skills needed for personal and business applications. This
is also a required course for those students who are in danger of failing the
MCAS mathematics component. Students continue working to master basic algebra
and geometry skills they have not yet required. Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation Science: (4413)
Physics (Grade 12) This course is designed to introduce and strengthen key physic concepts concerning the relationship between matter, energy, velocity and acceleration, Newton’s Laws of Motion and Universal Gravitation and the nature of sound. Measurement, problem solving and critical thinking are also covered including techniques used in interpreting data, equations and graphs with than emphasis on vector analysis. Environmental Issues (Grade 12) This course explores environmental issues that are a result of global warming, use of fossil fuels, hazard material accidents and other problems affecting humanity’s relationship to the environment. Connections to national policies, current issues and world politics will be made. (4412) Physical Science (Grade 12)This course discusses the scientific principles behind the non-living world. Emphasis is placed on the basic laws of force and motion, the structure of matter, waves, substances, simple machines and electricity. Connections will be made to current topics. |
