“Pink Slime” Notice
Please be informed that upon learning of the controversy regarding “pink slime” in meat by-products that Essex Aggie is taking steps to insure that none of the food served at the school contains “pink slime”.
School Policy for Food and Beverages Served and Sold During the School Day
Essex Aggie offers foods and beverages, over the course of a school week, which are nutrient-dense, including whole grain products and fiber-rich fruits and vegetables to provide students a variety of choices to maintain a balanced diet. We also provide a variety of a la carte items which include: low-fat dairy foods such as yogurt and low-fat ice creams; fruits and fruit snacks; low-fat and non-trans-fat chicken fingers, french fries, and mozzarella sticks; and a variety of low-fat/low calorie cookies and crackers. All food and drinks served by the cafeteria conform to nutritional guidelines for school breakfast and lunch as set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
