Unless Essex Agricultural and Technical High School or Essex Ag-Tech is announced by name in the list of cancellations, school is in session. Cancellations or delays in your local city or town do not necessarily mean that the same will be true of Essex Aggie. The school provides bussing for students within an exceptionally large 20-mile radius of the school which encompasses 47 different communities from Winthrop to Gloucester to Haverhill to Lowell. As a result, weather situations may arise that negatively impact only a few of these 47 communities. In these instances, school will be in session and busses will be dispatched to provide transportation for all students. The school administration certainly understands that parents should exercise their option to keep their child at home if they have concerns regarding the conditions within their community and/or neighborhood. This is a very difficult decision that the administration makes only after a very careful assessment of the weather conditions within the entire school district.
In the event of a delayed opening announcement, students should report to their bus stops adding the delayed time to their regular pick up time. For example, if your regular pick up time is 6:35 and there is a one-hour delayed opening, your pick up time would be 7:35.Please consult the school closing/delayed opening links listed below.
