CLUBS & ACTIVITIES

Essex Aggie offers plenty of opportunities for students to get involved. Your after-school experiences enrich your high school experience, and help to broaden your social circle.

Aggie Awareness Club - This group is a forum of support for every sort of diversity, including but not limited to gender and sexual orientation issues. Aggie Awareness sponsors social activities as well as forums to education the school community about the importance of tolerance and diversity. Advisor: Ms. Plante.

Art Club - Art Club members meet after school to work on projects in various media. The club often exhibits their work at the school library. Mr. Feeney is advisor.

Drama Club - Open to all students and led by an Emerson College drama graduate, the Drama Club's focus is to promote the creative and artistic. All sorts of dramatic activities, from improv to school productions, happen in this club. The Drama Club performs both a Fall and a Spring production. Advisor: Ms. Theriault

Environmental Action (SEA) - This club's goal is to put into action environmental/green practices such as plastics recycling on campus, Merrimack River clean-up, and MA Envirothon (http://www.maenvirothon.org) Advisor: Mr. Saulnier

Equestrian Club - This club offers opportunities to learn and sharpen horseback riding skills and increase working knopwledge of equine care. Advisors: Ms. Lara-Russack (Advanced) and Ms. Corson (Beginners).

Peer Leaders - This group works to promote a healthy, harmonious, substance-free student community through educational campaigns and various school activities, and to foster a sense of caring by helping out during local and global emergencies. Advisors: Ms. Moody and Ms. Theriault.

National Technical Honor Society - This newly chartered organization at Aggie honors student achievement and leadership, promotes educational excellence, and enhances career opportunities for its members. Student candidates must meet national and local membership standards and should be persons who have demonstrated scholastic achievement, skill development, leadership, honesty, responsibility, and good character. Natural Health and Wellness Club - This group works to promote a healthy, harmonious, substance-free student community through educational campaigns and various school activities, and to foster a sense of caring by helping out during local and global emergencies. Advisors: Mrs. Bartsch and Mrs. Lalievre.

Outing Club - This outdoor activities club meets bi-weekly to plan activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, skiing, and snowshoeing. Each activity is different and everything is fun. All ages and ability levels are welcome. Ecology and environmental issues are integral parts of this club's agenda. Ms. McMillan and Mr. Wyda are club advisors.

Student Newspaper - The Aggie News - Students compile a latest news on campus using computerized desktop publishing software and you can find the latest edition on this website. Advisors: Ms. Abdella

Tech Club - Whether it's building a computer, creating games, blogging, or working on web design, this club is all about sharpening your computer skills in a hands-on and fun way. Advisor: Mr. Pellegrino.

Yearbook - This after school activity is offered to any student interested in being on the yearbook staff. At weekly meetings, students actively participate in the planning, designing, and decision-making involved in editing a yearbook. Up-to-date computer technology, including digital photography, is used in the layout of the book. Advisor: Ms. Grima
